Editorial standards
To Be Parents publishes guides on donor conception, surrogacy, co-parenting and IVF for people making one of the biggest decisions of their lives. The trust you place in those guides is the whole point of them, so here is how they are made.
Sources
The integrity of our content matters to us more than its volume. Every guide is thoroughly researched from reliable, primary and current sources: clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed research for medicine, the text of the statute for law, published price lists for money. For medicine that means the guidelines of ASRM and SART, ESHRE and ACOG, the UK regulator HFEA, government health agencies such as the FDA, CDC, NIH and NHS, and peer-reviewed journals. We hold ourselves to strict rules about which medical and scientific sources we use, and every source is listed under the article with the date we last checked it.
Expert review
We work with doctors, embryologists and scientists in reproductive medicine, each with years of practice in their field. Medical content is reviewed by physicians, and the reviewer is named under the article. "Written by" means the expert wrote the article; "Medically reviewed by" means a physician confirmed its medical statements. Guides on law and money are checked against the statutes and price lists they cite.

Not advice
Our guides are educational, not medical, legal or financial advice. Decisions about treatment, contracts and money belong with your doctor and a family-formation attorney.
