A donor gives genetic material, sperm or eggs, and does not raise the child. A surrogate carries the pregnancy for someone else. A co-parent raises the child with you: no romantic relationship, but shared upbringing, shared responsibility and, unlike a donor, parenthood in the legal sense too. Two women usually need a donor; two men need a donor and a surrogate.

It depends on where you live and on how conception happens, and the difference is not small. In many countries a donor who goes through a licensed clinic has no parental rights and no maintenance obligation, while the same man donating privately at home can be treated as the legal father, with everything that follows. We cannot tell you which applies to you. Settle it with a family lawyer in your country before anyone is pregnant, not after.

No. We do not test anyone and we never see anyone's medical results. What you read is what people wrote about themselves. Infectious disease and genetic carrier screening is done by a clinic, and it is worth doing before conception however well you get on with the person. If a profile says a test was passed, treat it as a claim to check, not as a result we checked.

We check that the account is run by the person in its photos: you take a selfie and it is matched against your main profile photo. No documents are involved, so we do not know anyone's legal name. If you change your main photo the badge is removed and you verify again against the new one.

Yes, and not as a special case. Two moms, two dads, solo parents by choice and couples facing infertility are who the platform was built around: same-sex couples are their own profile type, not an extra line in a form. Donor and surrogate profiles say who that person is willing to help and how close they want to stay to the child, so you see the answer before you write.
